EVERY vehicle worldwide needs a license plate.
Cars are a ubiquitous presence in American life and many cultures and a symbol of independence, mobility, progress and individuality. TekDrv, LLC in partnership with multinational electronics manufacturing and logistics and distribution companies, has developed an electronic digital license plate, the TekPlate™, that can be implemented on a massive scale in the United States, the United Kingdom, the European Union and Japan.
The TekPlate™ meets or exceeds all requirements for sale to the driving public and fleet leasing in California, Colorado, Arizona, Georgia, Michigan and Oregon approved for commercial vehicles in Texas. Approvals are poised to expand into other states, including Maryland and a limited character vanity plate version is being released in the United Kingdom. Future expansion includes the European Union, Japan, and beyond.
We are committed to developing a superior product utilizing a green and sustainable development path with low-carbon operational awareness throughout the supply chain.

There are 280 Million motor vehicles on the roads in the United States
More than any other country in the world
There are 280 million motor vehicles on the roads in the United States. This includes over 110 million automobiles, 160 million trucks, 9 million motorcycles and just under 1 million buses. Each is required by law to display either one or two license plates.
Undeterred by high prices, rising interest rates, autoworker strikes and a computer-chip shortage that slowed assembly lines, American consumers still bought 15.6 million new vehicles last year, 12% more than in 2022, the biggest increase in more than a decade.
There has been little to no innovation in license plates for the past 126 years. License plates first became available in Florida in 1906. Those original plates were crafted out of dark leather and metal lettering. A whopping 174 vehicles were registered, most of them powered by steam. There was no Department of Motor Vehicles, no tag agencies and most residents bought their plates at local hardware stores.
But the leather didn't hold up too well in the subtropical climate. By 1910, the state re-designed the plates to be all-metal, then porcelain, and eventually tin. (Today, the plates are made with a reflective metal material that often glints in the sunlight.)
The Florida Legislature launched the state's first uniform license plate in 1917; these were steel plates with yellowish lettering. Florida only requires a license plate on the rear of the vehicle.

In the United States and its territories, 19 states require only
one license plate on the rear of a vehicle.
34 require 2 plates, front and back, although 15 of those only require one rear plate for truck tractors, trailers, motorcycles and special equipment.
October 1, 2022 Georgia becomes the fifth state to approve digital license plates, following Arizona, California, Colorado, and Michigan. (Earlier this year, Texas approved such plates for commercial fleets of twenty-five or more vehicles, but it has not yet approved them in non-commercial applications.) Maryland is currently running a pilot program.
October 1, 2022: California Governor Gavin Newsom signed a Bill authorizing digital replacements for conventional license plates, stickers, tabs, and registration cards. The digital license plate is now available to all 36 million vehicles registered in the state of California.
April 22, 2022: Colorado Governor Jarod Polis approved HB22-1162, authorizing the use of digital license plates in lieu of metal number plates.
September 16, 2022: New Jersey Bill A4497 was approved by the Assembly Transportation and Independent Authorities Committee, and is now headed for the Assembly Science, Innovation and Technology Committee for further consideration.
The deployment of the electronic digital license plate will yield immeasurable returns to the states, its drivers and insurers. Perhaps the most significant return on investment will be public safety, which will result from ridding the nation’s highways of uninsured motorists.
The only available digital license plate on the market was the RPlate and RPlatePro created by ReviverMX. Reviver has been quite successful in its fund-raising and participated in a testing program in the state of California which demonstrated the viability of the digital license plate. Reviver, formerly based in the Silicon Valley area and now based in Sacramento, received their first “exterior display” patent in 2015, some six years after Compliance Innovations patent was issued. Reviver has a formidable public relations capability, and they have generated awareness of the product throughout the US with significant capital investment raised from the public.
The marketing of the product by Reviver, in the words of its own CEO, Robert Wood, will prove to have been invaluable and "enhance any competitor's acceptance into the marketplace, as the digital license plate becomes more acceptable in the public jargon."

ReviverMX CEO Robert Wood claimed that they would have 100,000 digital license plates on the roads by the end of 2021 and 10 million in the US and Middle East by 2025 and he also believed that in 20 years, every new vehicle will be equipped with a digital license plate as standard. He also stated that Hyundai are rolling out their all electric vehicle which will come with the digital plate installed in California and Arizona.
Mr. Wood stated in a webinar in May 2021 that Reviver “embrace and support competitors as it will help with recognition of the product and the technology.”
A bill was filed for the Florida 2022 Legislative session to compel FLHSMV to commence a pilot program and have digital license plates introduced throughout Florida by 2025, but it failed.
According to the California DMV on May 6, 2023, there were 23,060 vehicles in the state equipped with Reviver's RPlate.

There are nearly 40 million licensed vehicles in Great Britain
GREAT BRITAIN
There are nearly 40 million licensed vehicles in Great Britain. 2.1 million vehicles were registered for the first time in Great Britain during 2020, which included 179,000 ultra low emission vehicles (ULEVs), registered for the first time, an increase of 125% on 2019. The overall proportion of new vehicle registrations that were ULEVs in the UK increased significantly during the course of 2020. The proportion grew from 5.1% in January 2020, up to 17.8% in December 2020. The overall proportion for 2020 was 8.4%, compared to 2.7% in 2019.
During the UK lockdown (applied from 23 March 2020), vehicle dealerships and showrooms were required to close, removing the main method by which new vehicles are sold in the UK, which had a heavy impact on new registrations during 2020 Q2. |
These restrictions were subsequently lifted at various times for the devolved countries of the UK - England (1 June), Northern Ireland (8 June), Wales (22 June), and Scotland (29 June).
In 2020, there was continued decline in new diesel car registrations in Great Britain, falling by 51% compared to 2019. Over the same period, new petrol car registrations fell 35%. Diesel car registrations have been falling in recent years since peaking in 2016. Over the four year period from 2016 to 2020, new diesel car registrations fell 77%. The most popular new car models registered in Great Britain in 2020 were Ford Fiesta (48,000), Vauxhall Corsa (46,000) and Volkswagen Golf (44,000). |
By contrast, new registrations of alternative fuel cars increased sharply by 87% in 2020 compared to 2019. More new alternative fuel cars (338,000) were registered this year than new diesel cars (295,000).
In 2020, across all new alternative fuel car registrations in Great Britain, there were 164,000 Hybrid Electric (HEVs), 107 thousand Battery Electric (BEVs), 67,000 Plug-in Hybrid Electric (PHEVs), and fewer than 1,000 using other alternative fuel types.
New registrations of BEV cars nearly tripled in 2020 (+184%) compared to 2019, with more registered than in all previous years combined (2001 to 2019 new registrations: 101,000), which equates to 51% of all new BEV car registrations since 2001 occurring in 2020.

The TekPlate™ will launch in the United Kingdom utilizing the same plate design introduced in the United States, with a maximum of five characters and will target the ever-increasing and lucrative 'vanity' license plate market, where short configurations are sold on the vanity plate resale market sometimes for 100's of thousands of pounds.
